| AEM was formed in
1970 by a team of dedicated engineers with the background in
the food processing industry. Initially, the role of the
Company was to provide operators of food processing machinery
with expert maintenance services. Over the years,
however, our expertise has gradually become focused upon
problem-solving in this specialised field. The result
has been the creation and manufacture of a growing family of
innovative food processing systems, each with a unique role,
and each the product of the teamwork that has always
characterised AEM. Today,
AEM occupies a worldwide leadership position in the and
manufacture of specialised food processing machinery, backed
by a maintenance service which is second to none. |

The DECORA is an innovative machine
providing a fast yet careful means to automatically separate the
core and florets from cauliflowers and calabrese. It is
capable of processing up to 120 heads per minute.
With the exception of the conveyor, the
DECORA is constructed entirely in 316 stainless steel, having a
box-section frame, and is designed to simplify cleaning and
maintenance. The conveyor itself consists of high-density
polyethylene blocks. These are machined to form a series of
self-centering cups in which cauliflower heads are placed by hand,
core uppermost, and may be manually raised or lowered according to
the desired length of the florets.
The machine features an infeed product
conveyor between the two lanes of product carriers. This
conveyor has a product sensor which automatically controls the belt.
Accordingly, the construction of the
DECORA is such that all product contact points are either of
stainless steel or high-density polyethylene.
In operation, as a cauliflower/calabrese
passes through the machine, the relevant knife descends such that
core of the cauliflower passes through its centre. It is then
mechanically closed, cutting and retaining the core which is then
ejected.
The florets, which remain in the block,
are discharged over the end of the conveyor into a suitable
container of conveyor, while the cores are automatically at a
separate discharge.
The DECORA is fitted with safety guards
which may be opened to facilitate cleaning and maintenance.
When opened, electrical safety interlocks are activated, preventing
the machinery from operating until they are again closed. The
machine is fitted with adjustable feet as standard, though castors
are optionally available. It conforms with current European
safety standards.
